Having served as a Project Ride Volunteer for over two years, I have seen first hand how valuable this program is. For children who are already challenged, it is reprehensible that the Board would consider eliminating this special program from their lives. It has been so rewarding seeing first hand how much the kids enjoy riding, and that capability enhances their opportunities to learn and grow. Both their physical and educational needs are addressed through riding horses, and the smiles of joy are just icing on the cake. Whether or nor a child is able to speak, they are able to convey to the volunteers and instructors how much joy they get from this wonderful program. I believe Project Ride is an important part of their education and socialization and, if eliminated, would result in a very negative impact on these special children. Please consider keeping the children and the horses together for another year.
